Background
The automotive sector requires second party auditors to be competent in a number of key skills, to enable organizations to support their supplier management approach. This course will enable you to contribute to your organization’s supplier quality management system development programme.
The supplier development programme within an automotive organization is critical, and this course is aimed at conducting effective second-party audits that will be used to assess compliance to ISO 9001/IATF 16949, PFMEA, control plans, and assist with supplier risk assessment, monitoring, and the supplier development process.
The course is designed to prepare experienced audit program managers and first and second party auditors to meet the new requirements of IATF 16949:2016 and customer specific requirements of FCA, The Ford Motor Company and The General Motors Company.
A final examination is included at the end of the course.
In accordance with internal and supplier auditor competency requirements defined in IATF 16949 Section 7.2.3 and 7.2.4, participants are encouraged to complete the AIAG Core Tools Self-Assessment (CTSA) to assess proficiency in the core tools, prior to attending auditor training.

- Demonstrate an understanding of and apply the automotive process approach to auditing, including risk-based thinking
- Demonstrate an understanding of the requirement changes from ISO 9001:2008 to ISO 9001:2015 in an automotive context
- Demonstrate an understanding of the requirement changes from ISO/TS 16949:2009 to IATF 16949:2016
- Identify the requirements applicable to an IATF 16949:2016 first- and second-party auditor
- Identify linkages between IATF 16949:2016 requirements and Customer Specific Requirements, including how to audit the applicable CSRs
- Identify linkages between IATF 16949:2016 requirements and the Core Tools, including how to audit applicable core tool requirements related to the scope of the audit
- Demonstrate knowledge of Rules 5th Edition applicable to the first- and second-party audit process
- Apply auditing skills according to ISO 19011 for audit program managers
- Apply the concept of risk-based thinking in the audit process with emphasis on second-party QMS audits
